Alex Price

Prompted by a landscape, an evocative colour combination and numerous other inspirations, London-based Alex uses colour and texture to create small-scale responses to the world around him. He allows his gestural and intuitive brushstrokes to transport the artworks beyond representation to a form of abstraction which incorporates expressionism. The paintings start as an interrogation of a form and end as an exploration of mark-making. This process of engaging and then resisting source imagery conjures the sensation of being between the familiar and unfamiliar, the recognised and the perceived.
