Peach and Turquoise Face Study

Martha is a highly accomplished, experimental Greek visual artist based in London. She uses the portrait and figure to examine the process of painting itself, mark-making and expression - transforming her source material into bleeding, haunting painterly works which sit between abstraction and representation. With this playful application of materials and the layering of water based medias, she fragments and morphs that which is familiar into the otherworldly and creates a commentary on the nature of the self, our bodies and humanity.
