Foundations | Benjamin MacGregor & Bella MacGregor

30th August - 24th September | 91 Lower Clapton Road, London E5 0NP

We are thrilled to be hosting the first exhibition by Sky Arts' 2025 Landscape Artist of the Year winner Benjamin MacGregor, alongside works by his sister - acclaimed photographer Bella MacGregor. This much anticipated exhibition features over 20 new paintings and a selection of limited edition prints, many of which were created in response to Benjamin's recent travels in the South of France. Following in the footsteps of Impressionist masters, Benjamin immersed himself in this landscape in preparation for his winner's commission for The Courtauld Gallery, London.

Inspired by work of Post Impressionist painters such as Gauguin and Van Gogh, as well as contemporary influences like Hockney, Benjamin has created a unique mark making style and visual language which merges textural abstraction with playful representation. Dreamlike botanical-filled landscapes emerge from translucent strokes of oil paint, anchored by close observation of light and form. Whilst describing the natural world, Benjamin calls our attention to the materiality and beauty of paint on surface.
