Collection: Johanna Wilbraham

Johanna is an East London-based artist who uses a unique visual language to approach portraiture, landscape and floral artworks. With an experimental and playful approach to mark-making, she rarely uses a paintbrush and instead uses tools which allow her to blur the boundaries between representation and abstraction. It is in this elusive space that order and chaos intersect, with compelling and sometimes unpredictable results. Faces emerge from pools and puddles of ink. Gentle landscapes are rendered through a collection of pastel marks on a watercolour ground.

Based in Walthamstow, she has exhibited widely across the UK and Australia and is the director of Glasshouse Contemporary.
