Aurora
Aurora
Unique original monotype on Somerset paper measuring 26 x 52 cm. It is mounted on a white board measuring 44.5 x 70 cm.
The title meaning 'Dawn' - this piece describes an 'in-between' time of day - still heavy with darkness but with an intimation of light. A mysterious time which can provoke imagination - our mind suggesting things that may not truly be there.
The Artist
The Artist
Through Fiona’s deeply atmospheric and evocative original monotypes, we step into the forest. Into the unknown, the wild and a space laden with metaphysical meaning and narrative. An important symbol for Fiona, the forest is both a mysterious, haunting place full of uncertainty and fragility, and a healing, restorative space for the planet and the individual.
In Fiona’s monotype process she utilises rollers, rags and other materials to layer ink upon the plate, using the early ghost layers to create depth and perspective. She draws us deep into the trees with her monotone palette and ethereal, misty mark-making. Based in Walthamstow, Fiona is a tutor at East London Printmakers and studied at Central St Martins.
