Fading Light, Emerging Stars
Fading Light, Emerging Stars
Earth Minerals on linen, framed in a floating natural wood tray frame measuring 79.5 x 69.5 x 4.1 cm. The artwork is ready to hang.
This painting captures the quiet transition from day to night, where the last glow of sunlight fades and the first stars begin to appear. Created with London red brick, yellow chalk from Margate, oyster shells and white chalk from Hampshire, the painting reflects the soft shift between light and darkness.
Lisa's process of collecting earth minerals is a ritual which allows her to explore nature, but also slow down and stay in the moment. Crushing the rocks she finds by hand, Lisa transforms them from gritty pigment into a smooth paint - another meditative ritual and an integral part of her unique process.
The Artist
The Artist
Mixing her own foraged earth pigments to create bespoke handmade watercolours, Lisa’s careful and delicate paintings explore our relationship to the earth’s resources. She is a passionate advocate of eco-consciousness and her work focuses on sustainability, climate change and the nature of existence. Each of her feathery, delicate marks ask us to consider our own individual marks, footprints, patterns and impact in the world, alongside the interconnectedness of all things.
This collection of works is inspired by the beauty of the natural world - cloud formations, dappled light and long evening shadows. Lisa explores the calming effects of being fully present and mindful living teachings, reflecting on how these ideas can transform our relationship with the Earth.
