Fake Fake Plastic Flowers - Rose
Fake Fake Plastic Flowers - Rose
Signed mono-screen print. Due to the print-making process, each edition of this print is slightly different and unique. The print measures 50 x 54.5 cm (paper size).
Inspired by Radiohead's song 'Fake Plastic Trees', this series employs a double negative (fake fake) to subtly explore the challenges AI presents to creative disciplines and general wellbeing. Each of these flowers are real, observed botanicals and Julia has transformed them into something sculptural and otherworldly.
The Artist
The Artist
Through Fiona’s deeply atmospheric and evocative original monotypes, we step into the forest. Into the unknown, the wild and a space laden with metaphysical meaning and narrative. An important symbol for Fiona, the forest is both a mysterious, haunting place full of uncertainty and fragility, and a healing, restorative space for the planet and the individual.
In Fiona’s monotype process she utilises rollers, rags and other materials to layer ink upon the plate, using the early ghost layers to create depth and perspective. She draws us deep into the trees with her monotone palette and ethereal, misty mark-making. Based in Walthamstow, Fiona is a tutor at East London Printmakers and studied at Central St Martins.
