Let the Outside In
Let the Outside In
Framed acrylic on canvas board, measuring 35 x 35 cm and ready to hang.
This artwork captures the small pleasure and daily habit of looking out the window. We can often spend days on end cooped up indoors for various reasons. It can start to feel insular and begin to play on our anxieties. Something as simple as situating yourself next to an open window and allowing your mind to drift outside and in turn for nature to metaphorically creep inside can do wonders for the soul.
The Artist
The Artist
Alanna is an emerging British painter based in London who graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Central St Martins in 2010. Her work is concerned with themes of nature, escapism and nostalgia.
She collects references from the everyday, from travels to exotic places and through memories both present and in childhood. Imagination, memory and imagery allow her to translate a dreamlike, fairytale scenario onto the surface, playing with colour, light and dimensions. She explores history, observes nature and combines elements of architecture, creating her own narrative as if existing in another time or place.
