For this series Nicole Rose has taken inspiration from her regular dog walks - a slice of her daily routine. Where Nicole usually paints in response to the views of the natural world around her, here she maps her walking routes, thinking about the overhead views. These tactile, circular and blended shapes offer us an abstracted representation of a joyful ritual. A ritual which speaks to the importance of nature, physical activity and our much-loved pets for our wellbeing.

Nicole’s gentle and ethereal abstraction exudes a quiet sense of peace and stillness. A North London based artist, Nicole focuses on her emotional response to the natural world - often visiting nature reserves and recording the sights, sounds, colours and pathways taken. She then translates her experience into paintings - using carefully built layers of oil paint applied in a sweeping brush technique. Her limited edition prints are re-imagined and digitally re-worked sections of these artworks - becoming fresh interpretations of the landscape in their own right.
