Xuan Minh Hoang
Wild Things
Wild Things
Original oil painting on stretched linen. 50 x 60 cm and ready to hang.
This painting captures that in-between space where the mind drifts; a gentle pause, something calm and familiar, like watching leaves move in the wind. Its soft, dreamy quality feels like a wandering daydream in nature. The loose, flowing brushstrokes echo fleeting thoughts and memories as they drift by. Wild Things explores the idea of quiet, everyday mental rituals, like daydreaming, letting the mind wander, or simply finding quiet moments to connect with nature.
The Artist
The Artist
Based in Walthamstow, East London, Xuan creates vivid works which dance between abstraction and representation. Her unique marks are meticulously applied - held within these tiny brushstrokes are miniature worlds of carefully blended tones, full of movement and texture. These marks act like fragments, gently sculpting an abstract expressionist language which is influenced by light, the natural world and the subconscious mind. Using various source images, from master paintings to photographs, Xuan lets intuition and the process of painting guide her organically - the joy she finds in the creation of the work evident in the finished piece.
